I am Able to Fulfill the Call of God on My Life

Can we just be honest? This is a hard one. I mean it’s hard to really and truly believe this in the core of your gut. God calls us to do big things, out-of-the-ordinary things. Like stand up for our faith when it’s being persecuted. Or share the gospel with a stranger. Or raise our children contrary to pop culture. Even write our faith in words for the world wide wanderer to read, and criticize.

He calls us to demonstrate righteousness, even in a teen culture that praises promiscuity and self-gratification. He calls us to go into all the world, even if that means to our own family, with His gospel of peace. He calls us to sing, to stand, to teach, to lead. He calls us to serve.

And more often than not, it’s harder than it looks.

the lie: I am not qualified to do that. This calling/idea/conviction is outside my expertise. I’m too messed up.

Remember when we talked about being qualified back here. Yeah. I know, but repetition is a key component in transforming your mind. When I find myself thinking those thoughts of “I can’t”, I actually look at myself in the mirror and say out loud to that weak vessel staring back at me… “You are able to fulfill the call of God on your life.” And if my mind fights back with an “oh yea? What about ___?” Well then, I remind her of all the ways God is more than enough to handle the results. He is able to guard over us when we step out in boldness. He is able to use our words where He sees fit. He speaks to us and will give us words to say in due season. He called us, each of us by name, and He is faithful to see His plans through– whether it’s being a mom or speaking to a stadium.

the truth:
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. God’s special posession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
