Truth Statement: I Am Dignified

Their words cut deep, like an ax to the center pole of your soul. It crumbles, taking with it your confidence, your identity, your zeal. The only thing left after a moment like that is shame. The foggy, debilitating cloud of shame settles in — silencing you.

the lie: I am dishonorable. I am disgusting. I am worthless.

Shame is like cancer. No matter where it comes from, be it a sin you committed or a sin committed against you, the effects are the same. It makes you small and disposable. Shame will kill you, maybe not your physical life, but it will steal and thwart the abundant life God promises all of His children.

I know I mentioned this 2 days ago (here), but it’s truth for more than your strength it is truth about your dignity. Dignity means “the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect.” Where shame wants to tell you you are lower than scum, dignity says you are royalty.

I quickly realized that my battle wasn’t so much insecurity in my inabilities, it was more a battle with the gripping lies of shame. I plastered this one verse EVERYWHERE. No matter what you’ve done, no matter what’s been done to you or said about you, no matter what — Jesus placed His namesake on you. He removed your rags and adorned you in royal robes, with a crown of jewels on your head.

the truth:
Clothed in strength and dignity, with nothing to fear, she smiles when she thinks about the future. Proverbs 31:25 The Voice
