Sunday Selah ~ Raw, Unnoticed Grace

Tears came easy. It’s as if the walls of my empty soul simply leaked. When I stopped striving, working, doing, the silence would scream. So, I’d fill the list, pack the activities and schedule the routine. But even the check marks would leave me unsatisfied. The busy numbed, but it did not quench.

It left me raw.

While the view outside my leaking window took on the same overcast appearance, I lost my bearings. Lies crept in through the crevice and I caught them like a cadence in my bucket. Comparisons ate at my vision, unworthiness consumed my peace.

Immobilized by own emptiness. Mortified by all of my imperfections.

Until the rain stopped. And the light whittled away the clouds, revealing a glorious view of grace.

Breathless I realized, it had been there the whole time.

Even though I couldn’t see it, grace stood steady in my world, unmoved by the storm clouds all around. Like a mountain hidden by the grey it was simply out of my eyesight, but never undone.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God.
Everything is naked and exposed before His eye, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin.
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy,
and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

  1. From the parable of the sower and the seed: “The busyness of this world chokes out the Word (which is the seed). Love, GG

I love this. What truth to return to and draw near to.

Yes….steady my heart with Your constant grace, Lord. My lighthouse. My rock. My hope.

Love your writing, sweet friend. Inspiring breaths of fresh hope on this Sunday afternoon.
