Fill {Five Minute Friday}

It’s Friday.  And on Fridays I write for 5 minutes.  Tonight I don’t want to – but it isn’t about what I feel like doing, it’s about what I’ve committed to do.  And so, I write.  The party has moved down the street to a lovely new hostess, Kate Matoung.  We’ve only just met, but the party is on and hasn’t skipped a beat, and you are more than welcome to come party too, in fact we’ve been looking for you!  So without further a due, lets tap the keys to that all familiar beat.

Get Your Fill
I set the phone down and walk away.  Deep breath in, slow breath out.  Yet another series of breaths much like earlier, when I clicked the x to put away the emails.  Deep breath in, slow breath out.

It is par for the course today.  I am empty.  I am parched.  And those moments were scratching on the already dry and cracking barrel.  Fear knocked loudly, doubt prodded and me – well, I just laid on the couch and let them holler and pound.  Too empty to care, too weak to fight back.

Until that one whisper, that sweet salve of hope came and landed on the sofa next to me.

“I cried out, ‘I am slipping!’

but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me.

When doubts filled my mind,

your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.”

Psalm 94:18-19

He is my one and only filling station.  Even when it’s rocky and sluggish.  His comfort gives me renewed hope and cheer, His unfailing love… it Fills Me.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May His face shine upon you and give you peace.
May you, my friend, YOU, know that His unfailing love surrounds you
and is there for your fill.
